The Batman 2, The Boys, the MCU, and more
Happy Friday, readers! This week we’re bringing you details on everything we know about The Batman 2, the future of The Boys franchise, MCU’s slate through 2025, and more. Also, RIP to the legendary actress Maggie Smith
Director Matt Reeves says the script is finally done, and production will begin by mid-2025. The Penguin will be one of the villains, but there's no word yet on who else might appear. I expect we will get a tease for another in The Penguin series. When Reeves was asked about The Court of Owls, he would not comment 🦉
Reeves also mentioned a film trilogy is still the plan, and some other spinoff series ideas have ‘evolved’ from the previously canned concepts. One of those concepts was a show focusing on Arkham Asylum 🃏
The Boys will end with S5, but there’s still more to come from the universe 🦸♂️
The Penguin E1 had 5.3M viewers in the US in its first four days 🐧
Agatha All Along E1 had 9.7 global views in its first seven days 🧙♀️
First trailer for The Last of US S2 dropped — HBO confirmed it will have a 5-year time jump like the games 🧟♂️
Kyle Chandler is reportedly set to play Hal Jordan in DC’s Lanterns series. Aaron Pierre and Stephan James are the frontrunners to play John Stewart 🟢
With the Thunderbolts trailer finally releasing online, we are looking ahead at all the MCU projects reportedly planned to release through 2025 🎞️
At D23 in August, Marvel confirmed that What If...? S3, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and Eyes of Wakanda will all be released within 18 months of the event, meaning all three projects are set to debut before the end of next year 🗓️
Despite Disney keeping Blade on its slate as of August, there is still no confirmed timeframe for the start of filming, nor has a director been attached. The film is currently scheduled for a November 2025 release, but reports indicate the script remains in significant development, now with its sixth writer. Although Fantastic Four began filming with less than a year until its release—and with likely much more VFX and post-production work—this offers some hope that Blade could still meet its deadline. Expect an update from the trade sites within the next few weeks 🧛🏾
